Digital Healthcare Lunch Forum: Pointwest and AWS Re-envision Digital Healthcare
November 14, 2019
Pointwest, leading IT company in the Philippines and Amazon Web Services (AWS), the brand of the world’s most comprehensive and broadly adopted cloud platform, conducted a lunch forum “Re-envisioning Digital Healthcare” held on Wednesday, October 16, 2019, at The Bellevue Manila, Northgate Ave, Alabang, Muntinlupa, Metro Manila.
Over 50 attendees composed of directors, administrators, medical records officers, and IT officers from various hospitals were present at the event.
The forum focused on the crucial role technology plays in accelerating the progress of healthcare, with three topics: transforming hospital operations using an integrated end-to-end hospital system like iPatientCare, digitizing paper records using intelligent OCR Skriba, and saving on cost by using secured AWS Cloud Hosting versus the traditional office-based data center. These technologies support the demand for more efficient and future-ready medical services.
The event began with an Opening Remarks from Ma. Cristina “Beng” Coronel, who advocated Pointwest’s products in ensuring quality healthcare and compliance to standards. “Through Pointwest’s healthcare technologies, you can implement what is required by healthcare regulating bodies in terms of technologies for hospitals,” Ms. Coronel said. This was supported by Pointwest Head of Healthcare Market Circle Rhea Latoga, who shared Pointwest’s offerings to the medical sector as powered by RPA, Application Modernization, and other technologies.
Next on the floor was Pointwest Artificial Intelligence Capability Head Mac Aydinan, who discussed how document digitization through the new AI product of Pointwest, Skriba, can help hospitals convert roomfuls of paper-based records into the digital format. Through partners such as AWS, Skriba is offered by Pointwest as an end-to-end digitization service that includes grooming and scanning of the paper documents, digitization proper, and; storage and management of the scanned information.
Pointwest Business Development Manager JL Botor discussed the Ideal Healthcare Ecosystem which can be achieved through Pointwest’s iPatientCare. The system has been applied both to local and US hospitals. “Together, Let us Create the Future of a Modern Philippine Healthcare”, JL Botor said.
(Left) Pointwest Business Development Manager JL Botor talked about transforming hospital operations through an integrated EMR system. (Right) AWS Senior Solutions Architect Alvin Delagon discussed high-level cloud concepts.
For AWS, Manager for Partner Success Marnie Tolosa and Senior Solutions Architect Alvin Delagon discussed the advantages of going up to the cloud and why AWS is the best choice to get there. This is especially relevant to hospitals that can benefit from the scalability and efficiency that cloud systems provide.
After the talks, a Panel Discussion was headlined by the main speakers Mac Aydinan, JL Botor, Marnie Tolosa, and Alvin Delagon. They addressed the questions of the audience, which centered on the capabilities, requirements, and security of the various products and services offered by Pointwest and AWS.
The Closing Remarks was delivered by Pointwest Executive Director for Business Development Leo Querubin. “Technology platforms like Skriba and iPatientCare, sitting on a secure cloud platform like AWS, are actually an equalizing factor”, Querubin said as they can use these technologies as a competitive advantage or as a way to ensure compliance to changing government regulations.
“We hope we were able to provide you with a better vision of the future of healthcare,” he added.
The event ended with a raffle and networking. Guests also had the chance to explore Skriba and iPatientCare at their respective booths.
The forum was hosted by Organizational Development Senior Associate Mariz Rivera.
