Officers of Pointwest Technologies Corporation attended the welcome dinner by the British Chamber of Commerce Philippines (BCCP) last August 22, 2013, at the Dusit Thani in Makati City.

The delegation from Pointwest was led by Senior Executive Ma. Josefina “Jowee” Reyes. With her were Market Circle Head Rene Canlas and his wife Arlene, Pointwest’s head of the Center of Excellence.

Pointwest joined the Chamber and members of the British community here in the Philippines in welcoming Asif Ahmad, who took over from Stephen Lillie as Her Majesty’s Ambassador to the Republic of the Philippines. HMA Ahmad officially assumed his duties last July 2013.

HMA Ahmad began his career at the Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO) in 1999 at the Resource Planning Department. He eventually became head of the Commonwealth Coordination Department and was part of the Prime Minister’s Office for a time. He is quite knowledgeable on the Asia Pacific region, having covered the area for more than seven years as part of the FCO and the UK Trade and Investment (UKTI) office. His Excellency served as Head of the South East Asia and Pacific Department of the FCO.

Before his appointment as Her Majesty’s Ambassador to the Philippines, Mr. Ahmad was the Queen’s representative to Thailand and Laos.

“I hope to build on the strong links between our two countries and play my part in enhancing economic ties as well as the connections between our citizens,” HMA Ahmad said upon his appointment. “Manila is an important and growing hub for our global and regional embassy operations.”
