Growth and Expansion
Significant to the case for Filipino Company of the Year was Pointwest’s 19% increase in clients for 2015. Among the firm’s new clients include tech companies from Japan and Australia, and agencies at the Republic of the Philippines. The company reported a 21% year-on-year revenue growth in that same year.
In 2015, the company engaged in major expansion projects, chief of which was the opening of its Digital Center in the Rockwell Business Center in Ortigas. The new office space occupies an entire floor of Tower3, furnished to fully support Pointwest’s established and emerging digital services. The facility increased available office space for the rapidly-growing company by almost 50%. No less than Pres. Benigno S. Aquino III inaugurated the new facility.
Early in 2016, Pointwest inaugurated a second Digital Center at the second floor of its UP-AyalaLand Technohub Delivery Center in the Pointwest Building to further increase the digital capabilities of the company.
Digital Products and Services
Major strides were also made by Pointwest in developing digital products to complement its menu of IT-BPM services. Pointwest released Easimed in 2015, a mobile app that allows healthcare plan members to locate medical facilities and professionals who honor their healthcard. In 2015, the company also began beta testing Autoparq, a parking locator and slot reservation mobile app. Arko, Pointwest’s multi-awarded weather hazard monitoring app, earned another feather in its cap with a Silver Award in the 2015 ASEAN ICT Awards.
Pointwest began introducing its new digital services in 2015. The company already has an established Mobile unit that produced an app – the weather hazard monitoring software named Arko – that has won major awards abroad. Pointwest adds to its menu of digital services with Data Engineering and Data Science, and User Experience Consulting These will complement Pointwest’s globally renowned services in Application Development and Maintenance, and Independent Software Testing, as well as its Business Process Management offerings.
The still-new Data Management and Analytics team already proved itself after finishing in the upper 6% of a Kaggle Competition in 2015, known as “the Olympics of Data Science.” Pointwest’s Data team is composed of young graduates of Mathematics and Statistics, learning about Data Science through a five-week course designed by Pointwest and Isaac Reyes of Data Seer. The team managed to get ahead of more experienced data scientists and analysts.
“These awards will inspire us to do more in the coming years, especially as we transform into a company fully capable of providing world-class digital services both here and everywhere in the world,”
Ma. Cristina “Beng” Coronel, Pointwest President and CEO
