Manila, Philippines — Pointwest, a leading Filipino-owned IT and Business Process Services firm, bagged the title “Technology Leadership Team” at the Asia CEO Awards on November 8, 2012 at the Newport Performing Arts Theatre. The annual gala is one of the biggest business events in the Asia Pacific region.

Some of the most accomplished Philippine-based leadership teams and individuals from various major industries were nominated this year. Honors were presented in 10 categories, including Most Innovative Company, Top Employer Organization, Technology Leadership Team, and Most Admired Board of Directors.

For the Technology Leadership Team award, nominees were judged based on management achievement, financial contribution, international recognition, pioneering achievement, and social commitment. Pointwest bested the likes of Hewlett-Packard, SMART Communications, Philippine Stock Exchange, and Rizal Commercial Banking Corporation to come out on top.

The company, which is set to celebrate 10 years of business leadership, excellence, and innovation in 2013, is the largest fully Filipino-owned IT firm in the country. It banks on its deep industry experience, innovative technologies, internationally accredited methodologies, and comprehensive service delivery framework to drive growth and transformation. Pointwest, however, considers its people — a solid team of Filipino IT professionals that’s 1,000-strong — its best assets.

“This may be a Technology Leadership Team award, but this is for all the members of Team Pointwest, who make our story a most compelling one,” said Beng Coronel, Pointwest President. “It’s about the great men and women of Pointwest, who managed to beat the Goliaths of the industry, powered by passion and a strong belief in the Filipino talent. We dream big, for it is the first step to greatness.”

And for Pointwest, 2012 is proving to be a year filled with great achievements. In October, the company was hailed a Pioneering Business Locator by the local government of Quezon City. In the same month, the IPA, Japan’s leading organization for IT security and human resource development, selected Pointwest’s competency management framework as its pilot case study for the Philippines. The company was also nominated in the Non-Voice Excellence Company category at this year’s International ICT Awards. This latest recognition at the Asia CEO Awards caps off an accomplished year.
