Pointwest leverages its experience in Data Science and Analytics with its participation in the Big Data Analytics Conference 2016 on Tuesday, 15 Nov. 2016 at the Tent at Enderun Colleges, McKinley Hill, Bonifacio Global City.
Organized by Enderun Colleges together with Global Chamber® Manila and with the theme, “Making Big Data and Analytics Work for You”, the conference will gather more than 300 industry leaders and stakeholders from business, government and academe to discuss the latest developments in the field, especially in the local setting.
Sherwin Pelayo, head of Pointwest Labs and Digital Capability Development, will have a busy day as he will take the stage for two important segments during the Conference.
His first will be as part of the panel for Breakout Session 2: Public/Government from 2:45 pm to 3:30 pm, which will discuss Big Data’s impact on dealing with social problems like poverty, hunger and disease. One focus of the Breakout Session is the rise of “Open Data” and its implications for advancing Social Good.
Pointwest previously used such “Open Data” access to effect. Its multi-awarded and internationally-recognized Hazards-mapping mobile application, Arko (Google Play; App Store), was developed using data released for public use by the Nationwide Operational Assessment of Hazards (NOAH) Project of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST). Arko is currently one of the key applications being used by Project NOAH, and helps local government units and communities to do planning for natural hazards response.
After the Session, Pelayo will take part in Panel 3 that will tackle the future of Big Data and Analytics in the Philippines. The distinguished panel of members from the academe, government and business will exchange insights on the current state of Big Data and Analytics in the country, prospects for the industry, and how the current players can work together for further improvements.
Aside from Pelayo, the other panelists are DMAIPH and Sonic Analytics President and Founder Daniel Meyer; Teradata Philippines Industry Consultant Dominic Ligot; Asia Pacific College Lecturer/Consultant and Board Member of the PICAB and PCS Edmundo “Toti” Casino, and; NXTLVL Academy Co-Founder Derya Tanghe. No less than Philippine Software Industry Association (PSIA) President Jonathan De Luzuriaga will be moderating this very important talk.
Pointwest is a Silver Sponsor of the Big Data and Analytics Conference 2016. The company will have a booth at the Main Hall featuring the latest in its Data Analytics and other Digital services.
