The AWEN Awards are given to women entrepreneurs throughout the member nations of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) who made significant contributions both to their industries and in advancing the participation of women in all levels of economic activity.
“I am honored and humbled by the recognition given by the leading network for Women entrepreneurs in ASEAN,” Ms. Coronel said, who received the accolade from Thailand’s Royal Highness Princess Bajrakitiyabha Mahidol. “This gives us further impetus to push for a more inclusive, resilient and competitive business atmosphere for women entrepreneurs throughout the region and beyond.”

Ms. Coronel gave a talk during the Conference for the Big Data Focus Topic. Her talk was titled, “Leveraging Data and Human-in-the-Loop Tech for the Women Entreps in the ASEAN”, where she discussed the value and importance of obtaining and maintaining gender-disaggregated data in influencing policy formulation and training. She showed how the principles of Data Science and Analytics can help in handling barriers to growth of women entrepreneurs in ASEAN and in tracking the progress of the initiatives related to policies in overcoming the gender divide.
AWEN is a network of businesswomen in ASEAN. It was established to give the growing number of women business leaders and entrepreneurs within ASEAN the means to exchange knowledge and experience, network among each other, and promote initiatives that promote gender equality and the creation of a favorable environment for women-led enterprises in the region.
The organization began at the 6th ASEAN Committee on Women (ACW) Meeting in Chiang Mai, Thailand, in November 7-8. 2007. AWEN’s leadership rotates among the ten ASEAN nations. In 2019, it is chaired by Khunying Natthika Wattanavekin Angubolkul, President of the Federation of Business and Professional Women’s Associations of Thailand, under The Royal Patronage of The Queen of Thailand.
