Pointwest Rolls Out Resource Expansion Plans, Joins 2012 Mapua Career Expo

Leading IT services provider Pointwest continues its aggressive recruitment campaign and attends the third leg of this year’s Mapua Career Expo, which connects Mapua students with the Philippines’ top technology companies.
21 August 2012. Manila, Philippines – Pointwest is set to participate in the Mapua Career Expo on August 22, 2012 at the gymnasium of the Mapua Institute of Technology, Intramuros campus. The event brings together the institute’s top students and graduates, and the Philippines’ leading Information Technology (IT) firms. Several outstanding Mapua alumni are also expected to attend.
Organized by Mapua’s Center for Career Services, the whole-day career expo is already on its third leg this year. It features a strong line-up of industry partners offering competitive job opportunities for both fresh graduates and professional hires.
Pointwest is a regular participant and sponsor of various job fairs across the Philippines, and joining Mapua’s career expo is part of its intensive recruitment campaign. “We have been a cardinal sponsor of the Mapua career expo for two years running,” says Joey Sergio, Pointwest’s Talent Acquisition Manager. “We see this as a worthy investment, because we believe in the caliber of Mapua’s graduates.”
The company’s expansion plans, which were rolled out early this year, saw an entire floor added to one of its delivery centers in Metro Manila. This move is expected to create 300 job opportunites, and Pointwest is expecting the employee headcount to reach 1,000 at yearend.
Creating job opportunities in the Philippines has always been a top priority for Pointwest, being the largest 100% Filipino-owned IT firm in the country. It is also keen in helping Philippine academic institutions close the gap between what students learn in universities and what the industry expects of them, thereby producing better, more competitive IT graduates. Presently, the company is an industry partner to numerous academic programs, including the internship program of the Asia Pacific College and the first German-Philippine Dual Study and Double Degree Bachelor Programme of the University of Santo Tomas.Â
