It’s not every day that a company celebrates ten years of continuous success and service. So when Pointwest celebrated a decade of defining agility, it did so with a bang. And two days were needed to do so.

The first one, held at Metrowalk’s Metrotent last 16 January 2013, was for the staff, management and members of the board. A Thanksgiving Mass was officiated by Fr. Arnold Abelardo, accompanied by the Pointwest Choir. Afterwards, the entry of a torchbearer signalled the official start the festivities, followed by a rousing number from the UP Pep Squad.

Pointwesters took the opportunity to showcase their talent during the event, giving an excellent performance of songs, musical instruments and dancing to the approval of their fellows. The night was capped by Daddy’s Home and a surprise visit by former Pointwester and 2012 Miss Universe First Runner-Up Janine Tugonon.

The highlight of the evening was the recognition of Pointwesters who served the company continuously for the last five and ten years. Among those recognized for a decade of helping the company grow was no less than Pointwest President Ma. Cristina “Beng” Coronel.

A second party was held the next day, 17 January 2013, at the Peninsula Manila for Pointwest’s partners, suppliers and clients. Leaders from government and business were present during the event, led by Interior and Local Government Secretary Mar Roxas, Tourism Secretary Ramon Jimenez and Presidential Management Staff Chief Julia Abad. Justin Allen, Deputy Chief of Mission for the New Zealand Embassy, was also present to represent Ambassador Reuben Levermore. Philippine Software Industry Association (PSIA) President Noya Terrado was also present.

A message from President Benigno Simeon C. Aquino III was read by Trade and Industry Undersecretary Adrian Cristobal, Jr. The President of the Philippines congratulated Pointwest for its achievements and recognized the role the company and the IT-BPO industry plays in the strengthening of the Philippine economy.

The event had “Piliin ang Pilipinas” (Make the Philippines Your Choice) as its theme, and guests were treated to music from the Manila Philharmonic Orchestra, the Mandaluyong Children’s Choir and Bituin Escalante. The attendees were also treated to extraordinary shadow plays from El Gamma Penumbra.

“We recognized the odds and challenges that came with our big dreams — but we never faltered as we laid down the foundation and oiled the growth engines that would help us with these dreams,” Ms. Coronel said in her speech during the event.

Ms. Coronel talked about how Pointwest, in becoming the top IT-BPO company it is today, never lost sight of its ideals to make the entire local industry globally competitive and that it is a continuing advocacy of the company as it enters its second decade.

“And we shall continue to challenge our brothers and sisters in our industry — dream big, it is the 1st step to greatness,” Ms. Coronel added.
