Eight Pharmacists from Pointwest Healthcare attends the basic International Conference on Harmonisation (ICH) – Good Clinical Practice (ICH-GCP) Training-Workshop 2016. The Philippine Clinical Research Professionals Inc. (PCRP) holds the conference on July 21 at the Quirino Memorial Medical Center, Quezon City.
The focus of the training-workshop is to enforce tighter guidelines on ethical aspects of clinical research and introduce international quality standards that are provided by the ICH.
ICH is an organization that brings together regulatory authorities and the pharmaceutical industry to discuss scientific and technical aspects of drug registration. Such a collaboration hopes to reduce or obviate duplication of testing carried out during the research and development of new human medicines.
In an inquiry with one of the PCRP members, Erin Tiu said that the training is useful when venturing into a clinical research team.
“Should you want to pursue your career in pharmaceutical/hospital/clinical research organizations, this will be useful.” Erin Tiu, PCRP member
The Basic GCP Training held in QMMC is primarily for doctors. This training-workshop will help doctors in conducting their study, which is a requirement to finish their residency. They also accept external trainees, which made the certification of the Pointwest Clinical Specialists possible.
“This will be useful, now that we have formed our core clinical research training team and eventually, we will start our new clinical research service.” May Ann B, Pointwest Clinical Specialist
Majority of the attendees are the hospital’s residents, nurses, and administrative staff. Speakers in the said training are healthcare professionals from PCRP and QMMC.
